A Studio Rooted in Passion and Legacy
Our Story
Julie Rotblatt Amrany and Omri Amrany, a husband-and-wife team united by a shared belief in the power of art to inspire, memorialize, and elevate the human experience.
Julie and Omri first met in Pietrasanta, Italy in 1985, where the two had traveled to learn the art of marble carving. This unique town is well known for the quarries that are prevalent throughout the area, which in the early 1500s was home to Michelangelo, one of the most well-known artists from the Renaissance. The couple spent months in training and acquired a deep appreciation for the work discipline of some of the great Italian sculptors. And while Michelangelo’s influence would shape their understanding of art, it was another global icon that many years later would propel their careers to a new level.
Julie, an American painter and sculptor, and Omri, an Israeli artist with roots in figurative storytelling, met through their art and quickly began to build a life—and a practice—centered around creativity and collaboration. Their vision took shape in a repurposed industrial building, where they established not only a working studio but also a school to mentor emerging artists in 1992.
From these beginnings, they grew a studio that would go on to shape the landscape of public art in America. Their early breakthrough—the now-iconic statue of Michael Jordan at the United Center—launched a new era of large-scale, emotionally resonant monuments that have since honored athletes, civic leaders, and changemakers across the country.
More than 30 years later, Rotblatt Amrany Studio continues to thrive as a creative hub where traditional artistry meets innovation, and where the next generation of artists is nurtured in the spirit of excellence, legacy, and human connection.
