Edgar Martinez Honored by Seattle Mariners

edgar martinez

edgar martinez bronze sculpture by lou cella at studio rotblatt amranyEdgar Martinez was inspired by Roberto Clemente and dreamed of following in his footsteps – history can attest that he did. He attended Interamerican University of Puerto Rico studying business administration. After excelling in semi-pro baseball, Martinez tried out for the Seattle Mariners where he almost missed the cut, but after 17 years, 300+ home runs, and multiple awards, we are glad he didn’t.

As a 7 time all-star, 5 time silver slugger award winner, 2 time AL batting champion and Hall of Famer, Martinez led the Mariners to win 116 games in 2001, which set the American league record for most wins in a single season and tied the 1906 Chicago Cubs for the major league record for most wins in a single season.

He is being recognized by the Seattle Mariners with a life-size statue to commemorate his impact on the community and baseball as a whole. Join us in congratulating Edgar ‘Papi’ Martinez on his amazing career and accomplishments.

The Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt Amrany, in partnership with the Seattle Mariners, is proud to honor Edgar ‘Papi’ Martinez with a bronze statue of his likeness. Congratulations Edgar, his family and the Mariners community.
