Chicago Cubs star Fergie Jenkins is being honored in bronze again–this time by his hometown of Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada. Mayor Darrin Canniff was present for the Chicago unveiling at Gallagher Way in May. He connected with Cubs owner Tom Ricketts and received permission to cast the sculpture for the star pitcher’s Canadian hometown. The Chatham sculpture was announced at a press conference, with comments made by Fergie, Mayor Canniff, and artist Lou Cella of Studio Rotblatt Amrany.

Fergie Jenkins was honored by the Chicago Cubs with a bronze statue outside Gallagher Way and Wrigley Field. The statue by artist Lou Cella is installed alongside Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, and Ron Santo–also by Lou Cella of Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt Amrany. The lineup of baseball bronzes was referred to as “The Mount Rushmore” of the Cubs. “Fergie Forever” was a line repeated throughout the day. He has been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and is also enshrined in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
