Lakers Honor Kobe and Gianna Bryant With Rotblatt Amrany Sculpture

On August 2nd, family and friends gathered to honor the memory of Gianna “Gigi” and Kobe Bryant at their statue unveiling ceremony. The private ceremony was held at Crypto.com Arena, outside the 11th Street media entrance plaza.

Julie Rotblatt Amrany sculpted Kobe’s legacy as “Black Mamba” in January 2024 and now we honor his biggest accomplishment, his family. Originally designed by Karon Davis and created by the artists of Rotblatt Amrany Studio, the sculpture shows Kobe with his arm around Gianna and angel wings behind them. The pose is inspired by a courtside photo of Kobe and Gigi, a fitting representation of their shared love of the game. The surrounding plaza adds vibrancy and warmth with purple and yellow flowers, onyx butterflies carved into the floor, and a final bordering layer of bright green cypress trees and ball hedges.

Kobe Bryant shared a vision with his daughter Gigi and her team, “Mamba 5”. They were determined to create a world where young boys and girls had equal opportunities to pursue their dreams through sports and life. They continue this mission with the Mamba and Mambacita and Sports Foundation, which was involved with the project– serving as a reminder of their vision and dedication to making a positive impact in the sports world, particularly within underserved communities.

Our studio is honored to be part of a truly meaningful project. We continue to create art that not only displays our hard work and artistic excellence but furthers our mission to immortalize the legacies of positive changemakers and inspire human progress. Full LA Lakers press release
